'great expectations'
"i suppose you could describe alison bolam
as a bag lady, but not in a derogatory sense. she is a designer and manufacturer
of a diverse range of innovative handbags, make-up bags and purses all
in themed t, embellished with hand stitch and beading.
alison has recently, in conjunction with
the prince's youth business trust, set up her own company, ali b, to sell
her designs.
she explained how she began by designing fashion accessories for herself
and her friends; ali b was created when she wished to unleash her creative
flair on a bigger scale.
all of the accessories are entirely handmade to the highest standard and
alison wishes to maintain the exclusivity of her work by selling in boutiques,
targeting consumers with a sense of individuality who appreciate fine
craftsmanship.
alison eventually aims to have an entire range of ali b merchandise on
sale nationally and internationally, looks like she's got it in the bag!"

(issue 7) 'one year on' review
"Ali
B has also produced a range of handbags, pouches and purses inspired by
linear pattern and form and a collection known as 'touch me' which explores
tactile qualities. Exaggeratedly feminine flowers and frills inspire these
handbags, using brightly coloured cotton, felt, denim and wool".
